WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (PIX 11) — A man is facing charges in connection with the death of a woman who police say was killed inside her Washington Heights home.
Family members watched as 41-year-old Tiliek Thompson was walked out of the 33rd precinct in handcuffs Saturday night in connection to the killing of 27-year-old Lovay Williams. Police said Thompson turned himself in for questioning.
Williams was found dead inside her home after officers conducted a wellness check last week, police told PIX11 News. According to family members, it happened in front of her 7-year-old daughter.
Investigators said Williams suffered trauma to her face and neck in a domestic violence incident.
The victim’s family told PIX11 News that Thompson and Williams were dating.
Thompson is now facing several charges including murder, strangulation and criminal obstruction of breathing.
A vigil will be held Monday for Williams as friends, family and the community continue to mourn.
