TUPPER LAKE, N.Y. (WCAX) – The Wild Center is now home to New York state’s first permanent troll sculpture.
The giant wooden figure, named “Patrick Sapling,” sits on the center’s 115-acre campus in the Adirondacks.
The sculpture shows a troll kneeling among local boulders, eyes closed, lifting a living sugar maple tree toward the sun.
International recycle artist Thomas Dambo and his team built the piece this summer with help from community volunteers, using mostly reclaimed and recycled materials.
The Wild Center says fans around the world travel to see these trolls, and this one will now have a permanent home in the Adirondacks.
