Police in New York managed to wrangle an escaped emu that broke out of its petting zoo.
The Town of Ramapo Police Department shared photos over the weekend of the unusual capture to its Facebook page after the animal’s brief taste of freedom.
“We don’t know why the chicken crossed the road, but the emu crossed the road because Sgt. Anton didn’t give it an option,” the post jokingly read.
Officers used a drone to track the “feathered fugitive” from above while a team on the ground safely corralled the bird near what appears to be a school. The bird was returned to the petting zoo without any injuries.
“No injuries, no citations, and no word yet on whether it plans to escape again,” the department wrote.
