Five people were shot in gun violence across two boroughs on Sunday night, leaving one dead and several suspected shooters on the loose.
According to police sources, the bloody night began in the Bronx just after 6 p.m. on Sept. 13, when an 18-year-old man and another male were shot in the hands at the intersection of East 157th Street and Gerard Avenue in Concourse. EMS rushed both victims to Lincoln Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
The gunman fled in a dark-colored Honda Civic toward Walton Avenue.
The next shooting occurred less than two hours later in front of an apartment building at 1275 Lafayette Ave. in Hunts Point. Officers from the 41st Precinct were called to the scene at around 7:49 p.m. Sunday night after a 911 caller reported a person had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS rushed him to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Luis Cano.
Two people of interest fled the scene on a two-wheeled vehicle toward Lafayette Avenue.
The third Bronx shooting occurred near East 175th Street and Arthur Avenue in Tremont at approximately 9:15 p.m. Officers from the 48th Precinct found an 18-year-old man who had been shot once in the back. EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he is expected to survive.
Police are looking for two men who fled the scene in a black SUV on the nearby Cross Bronx Expressway.
Teen shot in Queens
The lone Sunday night shooting that occurred outside the Bronx took place in Far Rockaway, Queens, where a 17-year-old boy was wounded.
Officers from the 101st Precinct rushed to Beach 43rd Street and Beach Channel Drive at approximately 9:16 p.m. after receiving reports that a child had been shot.
When police arrived, they found the 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
In this case, detectives are seeking a suspect described as wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
No arrests have been made in any of the shootings, and the investigations remain ongoing.
