A young man and woman sat down together on the tracks in a lower Manhattan subway station and were fatally run over by an oncoming train, police said Monday.
The incident is not being investigated as a crime, police said, though it is not yet clear if the duo intended to kill themselves.
Horrifying video that emerged online shows the two, both 24 and from New Jersey, sitting on the tracks inside the Spring St. station just before 3:15 a.m. Sunday. They were then fatally struck by a downtown No. 4 train, police said.
Both victims died at the scene. Their names were not immediately released.
