BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – The newest K9 with the Brooklyn Heights Police Department, will be officially sworn-in Tuesday evening at the village council meeting.
K9 Jake is named in honor of Euclid Police Officer Jacob Derbin, who was killed in the line of duty in May 2024.

“We’re proud to carry on his name and memory through our K9 program,” said Brooklyn Heights police. “Jake has plenty of growing and training ahead of him, and we look forward to sharing his journey with our community.”

The department also thanked everyone who has donated to its K9 program, citing those donations as making Jake’s arrival possible.
