A new report by the state comptroller’s office finds mobile sports betting has emerged as New York’s second-largest source of gaming revenue since becoming legal in 2022.
It’s only second to the lottery.
But as more New Yorkers place bets on sporting events, there has been a rise in people seeking help for gambling problems, with a reported 8.5% increase in calls to the state’s hotline.
State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Friday to talk more about this report and his reelection campaign.
He is seeking to fend off a challenge from Republican candidate Joseph Hernandez in November.
