WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (PIX11) — The FDNY is investigating the cause of a fire that tore through a longtime restaurant in Williamsburg and injured a firefighter battling the blaze.

Fire officials tell PIX11 News the fire broke out at Juliette, a beloved Williamsburg restaurant, just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday evening and quickly grew to four alarms, prompting a response from more than 200 fire and EMS personnel.

Flames spread to a neighboring restaurant, according to the FDNY, which also reported a collapse at Juliette.

Dave Bryant described the thick smoke that billowed into the sky.

“Smelled smoke first and looked out the window and it was — you couldn’t see your hand if front of your face because there was smoke everywhere,” he said.

Juliette opened nearly 20 years ago, according to its website, and has since become a neighborhood staple.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury and had to be treated by EMS, according to fire officials.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
