The Firebells didn’t go down without a fight, rallying for a decisive 10-5 victory over the L.A. Queens on Saturday night to force Game 4 today in the best-of-five Women’s Pro Baseball League Championship in Springfield, Ill.
In the 10-5 victory, Joely Leguizamon hit a solo homer as one of eight San Francisco players to drive in a run in a team effort win to narrow the Queens series lead to 2-1. Outside of helping her team win, Leguizamon has another reward coming for clearing the fence.
Kelsie Whitmore returned to her hot-hitting self, going 2-for-4 with an RBI, Skylar Kaplan went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Andréanne Leblanc and Jua Park each added two hits and drove in a pair of runs apiece.
Jamie Mackay led the way for the Queens, going 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.
Game 5, if needed, will take place on Tuesday at 5 p.m. MDT.
