SAUGERTIES, N.Y. — A vehicle seeking to avoid deer on state Route 32 crashed head-on into another vehicle on Friday, injuring both drivers and a passenger, police said.
The incident took place on Friday, Sept. 18, at around 4:30 p.m., when state police responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision. Police said that after an investigation at the scene, they determined that Robert Sinsapaugh, 84, was driving north on Route 32, when a deer entered the road from the western shoulder.
Police said Sinsapaugh swerved to avoid striking the deer, veering into the opposite lane, where he struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.
Sinsapaugh, along with the driver and passenger of the second vehicle, who were not named, were transported to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said no tickets were issued for the incident.
