PEBBLE BEACH, Cali. (WIBW) – A Manhattan teenager is bringing home a championship from one of the most iconic golf courses in the world.
Charlie Haney won the pro-junior boys’ title Sunday at the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, an event that pairs PGA Tour Champions professionals with First Tee juniors for a week of competition and mentorship.
Haney was paired with Rory Sabbatini, and the duo finished the final round in impressive fashion, combining to shoot a 12-under 59.
They finished the tournament at 22-under par to win the pro-junior title.
Haney is a standout junior golfer who has committed to play collegiately at Ole Miss. He also had the opportunity to compete alongside some of the biggest names in golf throughout the week, including eventual pro-event champion Zach Johnson.
The championship adds another accomplishment to an already impressive junior golf career for the Manhattan native.
