A 29-year-old man was shot to death outside a Bronx public housing complex, police said Sunday.
Jason Ferrer, 29, was shot in the chest in front of a daycare near Cruger Ave. and Magenta St. across the street from the Gun Hill Houses in Williamsbridge about 9:15 p.m. Saturday, cops said. The victim had two young children, neighbors said.
“I heard two shots,” said a neighbor who declined to give his name. “He was breathing, because the people were screaming to the police to get the ambulance.”
Medics rushed Ferrer to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
Ferrer was living about two miles away from where he was shot, in Bedford Park, according to police. But neighbors in the Gun Hill Houses said he was from there.
“I saw him grow up,” said another neighbor who declined to give his name. “He was a good guy. Good guy, great dad.”
“He’s an outgoing person,” he added. “It’s an unfortunate situation.”
Cops believe he was the intended target of the shooting and are looking for two men who fled on a moped.
Ferrer’s killing marks the 10th homicide in the Bronx’s 47th Precinct this year. The precinct also saw 10 slayings through Sept. 13 of last year and 13 in all of 2025, NYPD stats show.
