Police in the Bronx are hunting for the maniac who ruthlessly beat and slashed a man in an unprovoked attack on Monday morning.

According to police sources, it all happened in front of an apartment building at 2710 Sedgwick Ave. in Kingsbridge at around 8:43 a.m. on Sept. 21.

Law enforcement sources said the suspect approached from behind the victim, a 60-year-old man standing in front of the apartment building while talking to another person. The perpetrator then struck the victim with an unknown blunt object, but the attack did not end there.

Cops said the deranged assailant pulled out a box cutter and slashed the man across the neck. The perpetrator then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Officers from the 50th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment of a head injury and a gash on the left side of his neck; he was listed in stable condition.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing. Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a green baseball cap, blue coat, and light-colored pants fled on foot.
