As election season enters its homestretch, Spectrum News will host three debates next month for statewide office, including one in the race for governor.
The three hour-long debates will be live at 7 p.m. in NY1’s Chelsea studios and co-moderated by political anchors Errol Louis and Susan Arbetter.
The debate for state comptroller will take place on Oct. 1, with Democratic incumbent Tom DiNapoli facing off against Republican challenger Joseph Hernandez.
One week later, on Oct. 8, State Attorney General Letitia James and Republican challenger Saritha Komatireddy will debate.
The main event will be on Oct. 13 when Gov. Kathy Hochul faces off against Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman.
The debates for state attorney general and governor are the first general election debates to be held under the auspices of the state’s Public Campaign Finance Board, which requires candidates to debate if they receive public matching funds.
