Some City Council members are looking to discourage driving by creating more “low-traffic areas” across New York City.
New legislation being introduced by Manhattan Council Member Shaun Abreu would expand the use of measures such as speed humps, medians and other physical barriers designed to slow drivers down.
The bill comes as Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration works to reimagine Vision Zero, an effort Abreu has supported.
Abreu joined “Mornings On 1” Thursday to discuss the legislation and his vision for safer city streets.
