During a week when Manhattan traffic is already snarled by the United Nations General Assembly, many New Yorkers are relying more heavily on public transit.
That made a disruption on the Long Island Rail Road particularly unwelcome Wednesday night.
Downed utility lines between Hicksville and Farmingdale caused major service disruptions, creating a ripple effect at LIRR hubs including Jamaica, Grand Central Madison and Penn Station.
The utility lines have since been cleared and service has been restored, though riders were warned to expect some residual delays Thursday morning.
LIRR President Rob Free joined “Mornings On 1” Thursday with an update on the disruption.
