TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Many restaurants offer special treats and deals for Veterans Day, but the Texas Roadhouse in Manhattan takes it a step further.
Manhattan’s local store marketer Grace Crossman, service manager Stella Gratton, and local owner/operator Jeff Gratton visited Eye on NE Kansas to share their plans for Nov. 11.
Jeff said Veterans Day is special to them because their community is so closely connected to the military through Fort Riley. He said he himself did not serve in the military, so this is a way he can give back and thank those who did.
The restaurant will start the day taking part in Manhattan’s Veterans Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. After that, the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association will join them in the Manhattan Texas Roadhouse parking lot, where they will hand out flags and assist in directing traffic.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Manhattan location will take part in a company-wide giveaway of free lunch vouchers to people who show a military ID. The voucher may be used the same day or anytime in the next year.
Around 2 p.m., Manhattan’s Texas Roadhouse will host a ceremony that includes a group from K-State singing the National Anthem. They’ll also have a Fallen Comrade Table set up, honoring members of the military who have died in service to the nation.
