BUSHWICK — GOWANUS-BASED NONPROFIT Big Reuse will open a new thrift store for home goods and clothing at 378 Troutman St. in Bushwick in mid-December, according to Brownstoner. The 5,000-square-foot space will be built out with reclaimed scaffolding lumber. Consumer items include books, glassware, and kitchen items, but not furniture or building materials like its Gowanus flagship.

Executive Director Justin Green said the expansion follows a “surge of interest in thrifting and reusing stuff and it felt like we have the momentum to keep going forward.”

The group, known for its sustainability and composting projects, partnered locally with Clean Bushwick Initiative and Councilmembers Sandy Nurse and Jennifer Gutiérrez. The Bushwick outpost aims to divert more materials from landfills while tapping the neighborhood’s thriving reuse culture.
