There is a pretty big secret they’ve been keeping in Alexandria, Minnesota, as of late, and I just got in on it.

One of their own, 14-year-old Brooklyn Marie Ostlund, has appeared on the 2026 season of The Voice, and she is already blowing the coaches away with her natural ability, confidence, and sweet personality.

BLIND AUDITIONS FEATURE ALEXANDRIA 9TH GRADER

According to Alexandria news sources, Brooklyn, an Alexandria ninth grader, took the stage during the Blind Auditions and performed Olivia Rodrigo’s “traitor.” And if you haven’t seen the performance yet, you’re going to want to.

The coaches can’t see the singers during the Blind Auditions on the popular reality vocal competition known as ‘The Voice.’ They have to make their decision based entirely on what they hear.

And what they heard from Brooklyn was enough to make two of them hit their buttons. Two women that I think are amazing in their own right.

Queen Latifah and Kelly Clarkson both turned their chairs for the young singer.

When Queen Latifah found out Brooklyn was only 14 years old, she couldn’t believe it. “What is this?!” she exclaimed.

COACH VS. COACH

Then came the coach-to-coach competition to convince Brooklyn to join their team.

Kelly Clarkson wasn’t shy about letting Brooklyn know exactly what she could offer. “I know how to do it girl,” Clarkson told her. “I know how to win this show.” Brooklyn ultimately chose Kelly and is now officially a member of Team Kelly.

STANDING ON THE BIG STAGE

You’re 14 years old. You’re from Alexandria, Minnesota. You’re standing on a stage in front of some of the biggest names in music, and while you’re singing, two of them turn their chairs because they want YOU on their team! That’s incredible!

While the rest of us are just getting to know Brooklyn, this young singer has already been working on her music for quite some time.

Brooklyn is a singer-songwriter who performs and writes her own music. She’s released original songs and has been building her musical talents right here in Minnesota. It looks to me like people all over Alexandria invite Brooklyn in to perform, and now the town seems to be equally as excited to see their hometown singer on the national stage.

KROC-AM logoA BRAND NEW REASON FOR US TO WATCH ‘THE VOICE’

Her appearance on ‘The Voice’ has now put her in front of a national audience, but there’s something really special about watching a young Minnesota musician get this kind of opportunity. Now that the secret is out, Central Minnesota has a new reason to tune into ‘The Voice’.

Brooklyn’s journey with Team Kelly is just beginning, and I have a feeling Alexandria is going to be watching every step of the way, along with the rest of Minnesota. Go Brooklyn!
