Nor’easter continues to bring rain, some wind to Vermont and New York this weekend
Most rain expected south, gusty winds may lead to leaf drop in parts of the region
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. —
NBC5 meteorologists are tracking a coastal storm this weekend, bringing periods of rain and gusty wind to Vermont and northern New York.
The storm is expected to curve west toward New Jersey and Delaware Saturday night into Sunday, before lifting north on Monday. That will allow waves of showers to rotate into Vermont and northern New York, with the steadiest and heaviest rain expected near the Massachusetts border.
Rain Forecast
Southern areas can expect the most rain to add up through early Tuesday. Many towns along/south of Route 4 likely pick up 1–2″+.
Lesser amounts will fall in northern areas. The Champlain Valley may pick up around 0.5″, with most of that coming on Monday.
Wind Forecast
Breezy conditions are also likely, especially across higher elevations, on Lake Champlain and for southern/eastern areas. West-facing slopes in Bennington County and in the White Mountains may see localized gusts to 40+ mph. This could bring down leaves and small branches in those areas. Isolated power outages are possible too.
Otherwise, most towns can expect northeast gusts in the 20–30 mph range Saturday night and Sunday, as the storm meanders to our south.
