Police in Brooklyn are on the hunt for a gunman who shot a man and left him on the brink of death early on Monday morning.

According to NYPD sources, officers from the 67th Precinct were called to a deli located at 980 Rutland Road in Brownsville at around 3:20 a.m. on Sept. 28 after receiving reports of shots fired.

When they arrived, law enforcement sources said, the cops discovered a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head.

EMS rushed him to Brookdale University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Police sources did not provide information regarding what led up to the shooting, nor did they provide a description of a perpetrator. It’s believed that the gunman fled the scene inside a gray four-door sedan.

Long after sunrise Monday, a heavy police presence remained on the scene, which was sealed off as detectives combed the location for evidence.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
