Further casting has been revealed for New York Theatre Workshop‘s upcoming U.S. premiere of Wild Rose, a stage jukebox musical adaptation of Nicole Taylor’s 2018 film. Taylor has adapted the work for the stage, with previews set to begin November 24 at the Off-Broadway company. Opening night will be December 14, and performances will continue through January 10, 2027.

As previously announced, Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale), seen last season on Broadway in Becky Shaw, will lead the cast as Rose-Lynn Harlan, a young single mother who, after getting released from a Scottish jail, works towards becoming a country music star and finds an unlikely cheerleader in her new boss.

Joining Brewer onstage will be Mare Winningham as Marion, along with Danny Burgos, Joe Carroll, Annabelle Duffy, Reed Epley, Jackson Parker Gill, Haley Gustafson, Ciara Alyse Harris, Jaye Ladymore, Ada Manie, Linda Mugleston, Emily Grace Schultheis, and Bri Sudia. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

The jukebox stage musical features songs made famous by Dolly Parton, Wynonna Judd, Chris Stapleton, Caitlyn Smith, The Chicks, Patty Griffin, Brandi Carlile, and more, along with the film’s original song, “Glasgow (No Place Like Home).” The production is coming to New York after a 2025 premiere at Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh.

Additionally, Brandi Carlile has joined the producing team alongside her wife, Catherine Carlile.

John Tiffany is directing, with choreography by Steven Hoggett and Vicki Manderson and music supervision by Tony winner Sarah Travis and Nadia DiGiallonardo; Tiffany, Hoggett, Manderson, and Travis are all reprising their work from the Scottish world premiere. The production also reunites Tiffany, Hoggett, and NYTW after their Tony-winning Once premiered there in 2011. NYTW is producing Wild Rose by special arrangement with Patrick Daly, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Barbara Broccoli.
