Florida Hoxha grew up in the Bronx and was a senior attorney at the New York Legal Assistance Group, according to ABC News. Her husband, Ian Alexander Kirkpatrick, was from Huntington and attended Huntington High School from 2003 to 2007, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Hoxha and Kirkpatrick were killed alongside Hoxha’s brother, Florin Hoxha, and his wife, Erisa Cani, on Friday, Sept. 25, when an early-morning explosion destroyed a residential building on Lysikratous Street in Athens’ historic Plaka district.

Westchester County Legislator Vedat Gashi mourned Hoxha in a Facebook post.

“Florida was a friend: smart, ambitious, and devoted to her community. We met when she reached out to ask how she could help my campaign. As I got to know her, her questions turned to how she could help others. She never stopped asking how she could give more.”

“I was deeply impressed by her, and I was excited to see where her passion and drive would take her. That future was taken far too soon.”

Florin Hoxha studied at Emory University and was a co-founder at Prufrock Builders, his LinkedIn page showed. Florin was vacationing with his wife, Erisa Cani, who works as an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Touro College, in Greece, according to ABC News. Erisa was reportedly three months pregnant.
