Video: See Jeremy Jordan Perform the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees welcomed one of Broadway’s own out onto the field to open up tonight’s game against the Red Sox, with two-time Tony nominee and current Just in Time star Jeremy Jordan performing the national anthem. See Jordan’s performance in the video below.

Jordan’s appearance is a fitting celebration for the team’s second playoff game, as it comes just a few days after next year’s Damn Yankees revival was announced at Yankee Stadium, where forthcoming star Neil Patrick Harris was slated to make the first pitch in celebration, but the game was ultimately cancelled due to inclement weather.

Broadway stars often pop up as surprise vocalists to perform the national anthem at home games for the Yankees, and one can only (somewhat speculatively) hope heading into the spring season for Broadway—and the next season of baseball—with the MLB’s official Damn Yankees partnership that familiar faces from the theatre will appear even more frequently on the field! In a landmark year for New York City pride, the union of two of NYC’s most beloved institutions—theatre and sports—certainly boosts morale even more.
