25 years after 9/11, LMDC has overseen the rebuilding of the World Trade Center site and revitalization of Lower Manhattan, including towers, memorials, and public spaces. Created as a public benefit corporation, it managed complex federal, state, and local oversight. Most projects are nearing completion, transforming the area into a vibrant community while honoring the tragedy. Litigation was limited, mostly involving construction disputes. Overall, LMDC’s efforts have helped restore Lower Manhattan’s vitality and memory.
