Charney Companies and Tavros Celebrate Ceremonial Groundbreaking for 175 Third Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn

On September 29, 2026, Charney Companies and Tavros celebrated the groundbreaking of 175 Third Street in Gowanus, Brooklyn, marking a major milestone for the neighborhood’s growth. The 27-story mixed-use tower, the newest addition to the Gowanus Wharf development, will house over 1,000 apartments, approximately 250 of them affordable. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and dencityworks, the project will also include a 28,000-square-foot public waterfront esplanade designed by Field Operations.

175 Third Street is the fifth development in the neighborhood by the co-developers, who are known for Gowanus Wharf, which brings 2,200 total units to the area.
