Two suspects who stabbed an off-duty NYPD detective several times during a robbery in the Bronx on Friday afternoon remain at large, police reported on Saturday morning.

The officer, a 33-year-old man working out of the 44th Precinct, remains hospitalized at Jacobi Hospital in stable condition.

Police said the violence unfolded in the vicinity of 3174 Rochambeau Ave. in Norwood at around 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 2, within the confines of the 52nd Precinct.

Sources familiar with the case said that the officer was walking to his car when two male suspects rode up to him on a motorized bike and attempted to rob him of his chain.

The attempt then turned violent when they stabbed and slashed the officer with a sharp object; he suffered at least seven wounds to his body, according to sources.

After wounding the victim, police reported, the suspects forcefully removed the chain from his neck, then fled on the e-bike southbound on Rochambeau Avenue.

Both Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch scrapped a planned Friday afternoon crime statistics briefing and visited the wounded officer at Jacobi Hospital.

“He is thankfully in stable condition, and I am hoping for his quick and complete recovery,” the mayor said in a statement. “I am confident that the NYPD will identify and apprehend the suspects and that the people responsible will be held to account.”

Images that the NYPD provided on Saturday show the suspects, both men, riding the motorized bike on a sidewalk. The operator wore a blue sweatshirt and black pants; a second man riding behind was bare-chested and wearing black pants.
