NORWOOD, The Bronx (PIX11) — Authorities are searching for two people last seen on a motorized bicycle after an off-duty NYPD detective was stabbed and slashed during a robbery in the Bronx on Friday, police say.
The pair approached the 33-year-old detective on the corner of Rochambeau Avenue and East 208 Street just before 1:45 p.m., according to authorities. That’s when they stabbed and slashed multiple times throughout the body before forcibly taking his chain from around his neck, officials reported.

“He is thankfully in stable condition, and I am hoping for his quick and complete recovery,” said New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani in a social media post on Friday. “I am confident that the NYPD will identify and apprehend the suspects and that the people responsible will be held to account.”
According to the Detectives’ Endowment Association the victim was stabbed at least seven times.
“As our brother detective recovers from injuries sustained during an off-duty robbery in the Bronx, the DEA stands firmly by his side,” said Detectives’ Endowment Association President Scott Munro. “The perpetrators may think they got away, but they didn’t count on the full force of NYPD detectives searching for them.”
Police are looking for two people one of which was last seen wearing a blue long sleeve, black pants and black shoes and another who was shirtless with black pants and red and black shoes.
