A Staten Island woman accused of a mortgage scam faced a judge Monday in state Supreme Court in St. George. Lauren Taliento, 51, of Annadale, is charged with third-degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. Prosecutors say the alleged scam stretched from at least August 2023 through January 2025. They say Taliento and JT Homesavers LLC took about $14,000 from a homeowner from June 1, 2024, to Jan. 9, 2025. Judge Raymond Rodriguez ordered her released if she returns to court and surrenders her passport. He also issued an order of protection for the alleged victim as the investigation continues.
