A Staten Island minister who has spent decades feeding families is now asking for help. Robert “Perk” Perkins has used his own time, money, and energy to support struggling households. He has helped feed more than 300,000 families and operates a food distribution service without nonprofit status. Perkins also runs an outdoor pantry near Lowe’s on Forest Avenue. A recent job loss, health problems, and transportation costs have made things harder. He said he and his wife now share a single truck after one of his cars suffered engine failure. Perkins and his family are seeking GoFundMe support for gas, storage fees, emergency supplies, and outreach work. The campaign has raised $625 of its $5,000 goal. He said the funds will support community work, not his personal household, and he continues to ask for donations, recurring support, and prayers for the work to continue.
