LINDEN, New Jersey (WABC) — The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating a four-car crash in the residential neighborhood of Linden that critically injured two parents and put their 3-month-old baby in a coma.

Police say 48-year-old Darryl Petlock was alluding police and suddenly sped into oncoming traffic on East Linden Avenue around 3 p.m. on Monday while trying to pass a pickup truck and then slammed his Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on into the family’s Honda Civic.

Linden’s mayor says the crash followed some kind of police pursuit that started outside the city.

Petlock was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.

He has been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree eluding, five counts of second-degree aggravated assault while eluding, and three counts of fourth-degree assault by auto.

The investigation is ongoing.
