Inside or out, no one is safe from the frights of Blood Manor. Whether you are literally in the dark and trapped in a room with who knows how many people that hide in the shadows or simply waiting in line outside, blissfully unaware until you feel hot breath by your ear and turn to find a bloody, creepy clown.

“We like to torment everyone out here,” said Sammy Mena, otherwise known as the Blood Manor Clown, one of the many scarers roaming around the sidewalks outside Blood Manor. Mena has been scaring at Blood Manor since 2006, his favorite part: making people cry. “Just making little kids cry, and the people that walk by who don’t know what’s going on.”

Another clown, Yum Yum, guards the doors to the doom within Blood Manor, never looking away or blinking at all, not even for a second. He’s practically jumping for joy, or at least screaming for it at the thought of an encroaching Halloween and all the more people to scare. When asked about his favorite part of Blood Manor, his only response was an oh so sinister laugh that haunts people’s nightmares.

One thing that makes Blood Manor so iconic is its location. This haunted house takes the charm of a small town spooky attraction and delivers it right into the heart of the city, giving horror fanatics a chilling night of screams and scares.

“We try to keep a location for as long as we possibly can. As long as the lease lasts,” said Jim Lorenzo, owner and creator of Blood Manor,  “So we’ll be here forever. This building is landmarked, and our landlord loves us. We love being in Manhattan. There’s nothing like it.”

This year, Blood Manor is offering a special chilling experience for those who are interested in taking a deeper dive into the art of haunting. In 2026, the attraction is offering its Scare Actor Academy experience, for fans who just aren’t satisfied with being scared themselves.

“You, as a guest, could sign, join us, become an actor, scare people, and enjoy and learn. Okay.
The countess is one of our instructors,” said Lorenzo.

For $350, guests can purchase a scare academy experience ticket. They will be transformed into a chilling character fit with everything from a professional costume and makeup, becoming a part of the Blood Manor scare team. Learn the tricks of the trade while mastering a terrifying character and learning to scare patrons to screams.

As for favorite parts of the experience, Lorenzo’s opinion has stayed the same, “My favorite thing about this year’s house is the same thing that’s been my favorite every year, and that’s the ability to scare the crap out of people,” he said.

The Manor gets thousands of guests every season, and the same is expected for this year’s attraction. The support from New Yorkers is something that the Blood Manor team is extremely grateful for, and clearly, the scene is something the city craves.

On Oct. 27, Blood Manor will hold their fourth annual charity event in memory of Joey Lorenzo, Jim Lorenzo’s late son who passed away six years ago from cancer. The event will be in collaboration with Z100, and all donations will go directly to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

This year’s season runs through Nov. 7, and tickets can be purchased online on their website. General admission starts at $50 with student discounts on specific days.
