The infant’s mother, 23-year-old Nathaly Ramirez, died while holding her baby after plunging from a 15th-floor balcony of 2550 Olinville Ave. in Allerton early on the morning of Oct. 6. But being held by her mother partially cushioned the infant’s landing; both were clinging to life when officers from the 49th Precinct and EMS units arrived on the scene.
Ramirez and her baby were rushed by EMS to Jacobi Hospital. Not long after her arrival, Ramirez was pronounced dead in the hospital’s emergency room. Her baby, however, was listed in critical condition — but police sources said the child’s condition has stabilized after being airlifted to Cohens Children’s Medical Center.
Meanwhile, detectives continue to search for the male suspect responsible for shoving Ramirez and her baby off the balcony.
According to police sources, the 31-year-old suspect has been identified as Angel Carrasco — who is believed to be a boyfriend — and was seen shortly after the deadly push leaving the building and the elevator in a yellow sweatshirt and blue jeans. He also carried a backpack and had headphones on over the hood, appearing to avoid the camera.

Carrasco was last arrested on Jan. 8 of this year for allegedly assaulting Ramirez. Sources say he struck her about the face several days prior, leaving her with pain and swelling around her eye and cheek. In that case he was cuffed for assault. He remains on the lamb for the fatal shove.
During amNewYork’s visit to the building on Tuesday, residents said they heard a loud argument just before things suddenly went silent.
“I live right next door, next door. I heard a man yelling around 3 a.m., a very strong voice yelling ‘shut up, shut up, shut up,’” said Stan Garlik, a next-door neighbor on the 15th floor. “I never saw her; I didn’t know they had a baby.”
“I heard screaming. All I heard was screaming. Nothing but a loud scream,” added Margaret Attaway, who lives on the floor below. “A loud scream, and after that, I didn’t hear nothing.”
The pair had a previous domestic violence history, police sources reported.
