New York now a Purple Heart State

New York is now officially a Purple Heart state.

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed legislation recognizing combat veterans for their service and sacrifice.

The new law is part of a larger Veterans Day package that also expands job opportunities for disabled veterans and protects benefits from fraud.

State leaders said it is a way to ensure New York honors its heroes not just in words, but through actions that make a difference every day.
