SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the Interstate 81 southbound off-ramp to Interstate 481 northbound in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, October 9, to facilitate construction activities as part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project.

Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour that directs traffic to Exit 1B (East Glen Ave), to east on East Glen Avenue, to south on East Brighton Avenue, to east on Rock Cut Road, to north on I-481.

Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
