A man is in the hospital after he was shot by ICE agents in Manhattan on Thursday, according to officials.
It happened around 4 p.m. in Manhattan’s Marble Hill neighborhood, which is attached to the Bronx.
Video of the scene showed visible bullet holes in a windshield of a silver SUV.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said officers were seeking to arrest the man, who they said is originally from the Dominican Republic.
DHS officials said the man, who has not yet been identified by officials, had previously been convicted of grand larceny and had prior arrests for assault, robbery, possession of drugs and weapons possession.
In a post to social media, the NYPD says it was not involved in the shooting and was not at the scene when it took place.

In a press conference Thursday night, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said many details around the shooting “are still unclear.”
According to the mayor, agents surrounded the vehicle before opening fire. The mayor said they were wearing construction vests and masks that concealed their faces.
“There was no reasonable way to identify them as ICE agents,” he said.
The 5-year-old is “physically unharmed,” Mamdani said.
Mamdani said he spoke with President Donald Trump and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin in an attempt to negotiate the release of the man, but he said those negotiations “were unsuccessful.”
“We know that ICE is rotten to its core. Today’s shooting is only further devastating confirmation of what we have long known, which is that ICE operates with impunity, that they sow chaos and terror across our country,” he said.
“This is an agency that must be abolished,” Mamdani continued.
In a statement, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul wrote they are “demanding answers.”
“New Yorkers have witnessed far too many acts of violence by a rogue federal agency and untrained agents that operate with impunity,” she continued. “Federal authorities need to provide answers, and they must do so immediately.”
In a post on social media, Hochul said she spoke with Trump and Mullin, where she “expressed outrage.”
“I expressed outrage on behalf of New Yorkers and urged them to halt ICE enforcement operations in New York,” she continued. “I also asked that any body camera footage of the shooting be released to the public so we can establish the facts and get to the truth.”
New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin said she was “deeply concerned” by the reports of ICE’s involvement and said federal authorities “must provide us with a fully transparent account of what took place without delay.”
“I recognize the immense fear that ICE’s actions have caused immigrant New Yorkers, and I’m deeply worried about the additional anxiety and uncertainty this incident may bring to communities across our city as we await answers,” Menin posted to social media.
Federal authorities said the man was arrested by the NYPD on Dec. 7, 2023, and was released a few days after.
