New Yorkers are demanding answers from the Department of Homeland Security after a federal immigration officer shot and detained a man in upper Manhattan Thursday night.

Around 300 protesters flooded the scene of the shooting in Marble Hill before marching to the hospital where the wounded man was being treated.

Local elected officials including Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, meanwhile, expressed outrage over the shooting.

“The insanity of this is incredible,” Williams said on “Mornings On 1” Friday. “I don’t know how else to describe it.”

“There was nothing that was happening that would make people have to disguise themselves as construction workers, surround a man’s car with his 5-year-old son in it, coming from school at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, and shoot him in the neck in the car,” he added. “Nothing. It is inexplicable, what occurred yesterday.”
