There are different queens named over the summer that represent different age groups, including “Survivor Queen Pink” This year’s was Alicia Guitierrez, who was diagnosed with stage one, grade two invasive carcinoma. Queen of Pink offered assistance for her and her family.
“I applied for financial assistance. I thought I would not get it, but Queen of Pink does not limit if you have insurance or if you make a certain amount – they just offer a $500 check for financial assistance in your journey. It means the world to someone who is going through that, and you don’t know what you are getting,” Guitierrez said.
Guitierrez is very grateful for what Queen of Pink has to offer and encourages the community to support. This year, they are averaging around 300 people to represent breast cancer awareness.
