The Washington Commanders return home to Northwest Stadium this week after a trip across the pond didn’t bring them a win. They’re hosting the New York Giants for their third division game in three weeks. The first two resulted in losses to the Eagles and Cowboys, so the Commanders have to win this game to stay competitive in a weak NFC East.
The Commanders made several injury announcements on Friday, then made several roster moves for today’s game on Saturday. The team announced that Jayden Daniels is back this week and will be starting with rookie Athan Kaliakmanis backing him up. Marcus Mariota got the start the last two weeks, but reinjured his MCL, and will miss a few weeks. Washington ruled out six players as their injury woes continue for another week.
The Giants come to town as 3-1 division leaders, and they’re being led by QB Jameis Winston after Jaxson Dart was lost for the season. They’ve beaten the Cowboys, Titans, and Cardinals, but were blown out by the Rams when Dart went down. This is a very beatable team that has gone through a lot of changes since John Harbaugh took over the organization. With Jayden Daniels returning, the Commanders have to get the win at home. Will it be a slogfest?
