While he was touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and fresh off his role as mob consigliere Silvio Dante on the HBO hit The Sopranos in spring 2008, Steven “Little Steven” Van Zandt and his wife Maureen—the actress who played his on-screen spouse in the iconic crime drama—paid $6 million for a Manhattan penthouse. They went on to add their own eclectic touches to the Greenwich Village duplex, including a leopard-print staircase, purple-hued primary bathroom, Harlequin-patterned kitchen backsplash, and even an unexpected French-language movie poster for La Dolce Vita.

Fast-forward a little more than 18 years, and the couple put the 3,504-square-foot spread up for sale in June at $15 million. Now, after a brief hiatus, they are trying to sell the recently revamped pad with a new brokerage and a higher asking price. Sharing the top two floors with a mirror-image penthouse in the Novare building—a converted 1860 Romanesque Revival church spanning six levels—the abode is now listed for nearly $19 million with Mark D. Friedman and Richard Rosenthal of Brown Harris Stevens.

Containing three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, the loft-style interiors showcase the original stained glass windows and 20-foot vaulted wood-paneled ceiling with rustic exposed timber beams, balanced by industrial ductwork, steel, and glass, plus a floating staircase connecting the inverted layout. A 500-square-foot private terrace comes with a kitchen setup and alfresco lounging and dining areas overlooking city views.

A private elevator landing opens into the top level, where a small foyer flows to a formal dining room and lounge topped by an Atomic Age chandelier. A long, windowed gallery leads to a combined living area and black-and-white tiled kitchen with an eat-in island, flanked by accordion-style glass doors opening to the outdoor terrace. All the bedrooms can be found downstairs, including one that’s currently being used as a media room. Another has its own dressing area, with the primary offering an office nook, walk-in closet, and maximalist bath embellished with stars, peacock feathers, and bold graphic prints.

The new owner will be required to pay a $4,091 monthly common charge, which includes a 24-hour virtual/cyber doorman system. There’s also an additional $5,768 in monthly real estate taxes, bringing the total baseline carrying costs to just under $10,000 a month.

Van Zandt isn’t the first celebrity to call Novare home. Per the New York Post, Jude Law once rented a different penthouse at the boutique condominium, a unit that later listed for $12.5 million in 2015. The neighborhood has also attracted other top musicians. Pink paid $21.5 million for a West Village townhouse in April, and singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams acquired a second penthouse at nearby 1 Fifth Avenue.
