MARBLE HILL – Community leaders and immigration advocates plan to hold a news conference Tuesday morning to speak out about ICE officers staging in Target parking lots.
Tamika D. Mallory, the co-founder of Until Freedom, tells PIX 11 News, “This has been going on across the country … but they have not taken action; they have not denounced and condemned these stagings.”

Mallory said numerous residents had reported seeing federal immigration officers in the parking lot of the shopping center at 40 West 225th St. in the week leading up to the ICE shooting of 28-year-old Oscar Belgal.
Mallory said a letter was written to the shopping center’s owners and Target headquarters, but they received no response.
PIX 11 News reached out to Target. In a statement, A Target spokesperson said, “Target has no cooperative agreements with ICE or any other immigration enforcement agency.”
It did not respond when asked if Target would demand ICE leave their property.
The Department of Homeland Security has said Belgal is in the U-S illegally from the Dominican Republic, has a criminal history and “weaponized his vehicle” when ICE agents told him to exit his vehicle on West 225th Street in Marble Hill.
