Officers with the NYPD were praised this week for recently racing to a Queens apartment to save an infant who had stopped breathing.
The New York City Police Department on Monday released intense body camera footage from earlier this month.
Viewer discretion advised: The video above contains material that some viewers may find disturbing/graphic in nature.
In it, the officers with NYPD’s 114th Precinct can be seen rushing into an apartment, where they immediately begin chest compressions on the 1-month-old child.
“It’s alright, boy, it’s alright,” an officer, whose name hasn’t been publicly released, can be heard gently saying as he tries to resuscitate the baby.
He and another officer continue CPR while trying to talk calmly to the baby’s family.
Eventually, the officer lets out a sigh of relief and exclaims, “He’s breathing, he’s breathing, he’s breathing.”
Afterward, the child is taken outside, and FDNY emergency medical personnel take over. CNN reports that the baby was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
In a social media post, the NYPD said the officers “saved the baby’s life.”
“Incredible job by New York’s Finest!” NYPD said.
