A man caught Wednesday jumping a subway turnstile was then arrested for interrupting a Midtown Manhattan synagogue service, yelling “Allahu Akbar,” more than a year ago, police said Wednesday.
Shear Nobles, 48, was nabbed at 8:30 a.m. for slipping under the turnstile at the Fulton St. subway station in lower Manhattan.
A check by officers revealed he was wanted for an incident the evening of July 21, 2025, when he allegedly stepped inside Shuva Israel New York on E. 58th St. near Park Ave. and yelled out “Allahu Akbar,” police said.

The phrase means “God is greatest” in Arabic but has been co-opted by terrorists during attacks.
Nobles was charged with aggravated harassment and disruption of a religious service.
He gave police a Philadelphia address and does not have prior arrests in New York City.
Three days after the disruption, the NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force was investigating at the time, though Nobles was not immediately hit with with hate crime charges Wednesday.
