The Queens Museum’s World’s Fair Visible Storage presents objects from the Museum’s collection related to the 1939–1940 and 1964–1965 New York World’s Fairs. From the “World of Tomorrow” to “Peace Through Understanding,” the Fairs presented idealized visions of the future through architecture, technology, industry, and global culture.
An installation of framed artworks has recently been added to the Visible Storage presentation, offering another perspective on the artistic and visual culture surrounding the Fairs. Together with the objects on view, these works invite visitors to consider how the World’s Fairs shaped and continue to shape our ideas about the future.

Maps of New York City, pamphlets, and advertisements were vital marketing tools for both Fairs, shaping how visitors navigated and experienced the fairgrounds. A number of these materials are on display for the first time.
