Kelly Clarkson is back behind the microphone after a New York City store dispute sparked days of online debate.

The singer, 44, performed Oct. 14 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, in her first performance since her controversy with Art of Play.

Clarkson headlined the customer appreciation party for Workday Rising, a business conference running Oct. 12-15. Workday announced her appearance back in July.

Clarkson’s set included “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” “Favorite Kind of High,” “Breakaway” and “Since U Been Gone,” according to TMZ. The outlet reported that Clarkson did not address the store dispute during the show.

Videos shared on social media by those in attendance show the singer in good spirits during the performance.

Kelly Clarkson, Art of Play bird drama, explained

The disagreement began after Clarkson’s Oct. 10 visit to the Brooklyn, New York, shop, where she asked about a mechanical singing bird named Molly.

Clarkson alleged on X that an employee treated her as though she could not afford the merchandise and offered to find something comparable. She likened the experience to the boutique scene in “Pretty Woman,” in which Julia Roberts’ character is dismissed by store employees.

Art of Play disputed her account, saying Molly was a permanent fixture used in its magic shows and was not for sale. The shop said a nearly identical bird was available from its creator, Seattle artist Bliss Kolb, for $15,000.

Clarkson challenged that explanation, saying she had pointed to a price tag and been told the bird was for sale. The shop also said it offered to show her a different bird costing about $2,000.

Kelly Clarkson security footage adds to store controversy

Journalist Pablo Torre shared security footage from the visit on Oct. 13. The video showed Clarkson inside for less than five minutes but contained no audio, leaving the conversation itself unheard.
