The West Valley Cross Country team hosted its final home meet of the season under ideal fall running conditions on Oct. 7. Five teams competed, including West Valley, Frewsburg, Maple Grove, Cattaraugus-Little Valley and Randolph.

Noah Klahn displays his winning time at the Manhattan Invitational last weekend.

Noah Klahn set a new course record on Senior Night in his final meet at West Valley.

“With a new home-course record and an impressive victory at Manhattan, Noah Klahn continues to demonstrate the dedication and competitive excellence that have defined his West Valley running career,” West Valley cross country head coach Dana Lembke said.

“The evening was especially memorable for Noah, who competed on his home course for the final time. Klahn marked the occasion in record-breaking fashion, running a time of 17:42 to establish a new course record, surpassing the previous best mark set in 2023. His performance was a fitting highlight for Senior Night, which he celebrated alongside his parents, siblings and girlfriend.”

“West Valley athletes delivered strong performances across the board (at the home meet). Megan Ehrenburg competed in her first varsity race for the team, while also being recognized at Senior Night as the lone senior on the varsity girls squad. Modified runners Carter Widrig, Cordelia Robbins, Liliana Krueger and Rosario Messina also turned in impressive performances on West Valley’s challenging home course, considered one of the toughest in Western New York.”

Klahn continued his outstanding season on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the 54th Annual Manhattan University Invitational, hosted by HOKA. The challenging 2.5-mile course features more than 200 feet of elevation gain and attracts some of the northeast’s top runners. Having competed at the event for the previous two years, Klahn steadily improved his placement each season and entered this year’s competition determined to earn a victory.

“Competing in the Varsity B race against a field of more than 212 athletes, Klahn accomplished his goal, securing first place with a time of 12:58.8. His performance also established the fastest time recorded by a West Valley athlete on the course.”
