Following a muggy day, a line of strong to severe storms fueled by the warm temperatures is set to hit the New York City area Friday evening, bringing the threat of damaging winds and even a possible tornado.

The storms will arrive in the tri-state after 5 p.m. as they make their way west, though they may lose a little power as they get closer to the NYC metro area.

Storm Team 4 is tracking the damaging winds, which are the main concern with these storms, along with the chance for tornadoes. The flood threat will be lower due to the fast-moving nature of the storms.

Once the storms are out of the picture, the cold air comes rushing in, with temperatures in the 50s — though a brisk wind will make it feel in the 40s.
