Police in the Bronx are questioning a senior man on Sunday morning, hours after he allegedly shot his girlfriend when he caught her with another man inside an apartment in an apparent love triangle, police sources said.

Law enforcement sources reported that the domestic dispute unfolded just before 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at 3970 3rd Ave. in Claremont.

Officers from the 42nd Precinct rushed to the location after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting that a person had opened fire. When they arrived, they discovered several spent shell casings in the building’s hallway, and learned a 68-year-old man had barricaded himself inside an apartment.

The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit responded, and authorities eventually gained entry to the apartment to discover that a 70-year-old woman had been shot in the abdomen and a 60-year-old man had been shot multiple times in the torso.

Both victims were rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition and are expected to survive.

Sources familiar with the investigation report that the shooter is believed to have been the boyfriend of the 70-year-old victim. The 60-year-old man may also have been having a relationship with the female, sources said.

The gunman was taken into custody without incident and was also taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital for evaluation. Charges against the gunman are pending.
