Queens District RCMP say human remains were discovered after a fire at a remote cabin near Kempt, N.S., on Monday evening.
According to the police, first responders were called to the fire on Albany New Road on Monday at approximately 6:30 p.m.
“When firefighters extinguished the fire, they found human remains inside the cabin,” RCMP said Wednesday in a news release.
Police do not believe the fire was suspicious, but they are looking to speak with anyone who may know more about what happened. Information can be shared with RCMP at 902-354-5721 or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police are continuing to investigate in co-ordination with the provincial fire marshal’s office and the medical examiner service.
