TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A former all-state softball player from Manhattan will be joining the Washburn softball team for the 2026-27 season.
According to Washburn Athletics, Reagan Neitzel will be playing for the Ichabods beginning in the 2026-27 campaign. The corner infielder will be transferring from Johnson County Community College, where she was named All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and All-Region 6Â Division II honorable mention.
Neitzel played in and started all 53 games, batted .391 (63-for-161) with 17 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 26 walks, 53 runs scored and 44 RBI.
“I chose Washburn because I feel like it was a great fit with the competitive environment and the culture of the girls is great. It is close to home and family and the facilities are the best! This will be a place I can continue to grow.”
At Manhattan High School, she was named all-state by the Kansas Softball Coaches Association first-team her senior year. Neitzel was a four-time all-league selection. As a senior, she earned first-team all-state and all Flint Hills honors and was named the Centennial League Player of the Year … batted .417 with 30 hits, eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, with 28 runs scored and a team-high 30 RBI, 13 walks with seven strikeouts.
“Reagan was an impactful player in the middle of Johnson County’s lineup as they excelled to the National tournament last year. She plays with great passion and energy and can help us both at the hot corner and behind the plate. She is a young lady who will continue to get better and will be a great asset to our program.”

Washburn is coming off a 31-21 season in 2025 and will open the 2026 campaign Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at the Lone Star Classic in Mansfield, Texas.
